Coach Carl Ferreira is currently the Head Indoor and Beach Volleyball Coach at Bakersfield College, and also serves as a full time tenured faculty professor in the Health, Kinesiology, and Physical Education Department. The Bakersfield College volleyball program is recognized as one of the premiere programs in the state of California, and the program boasts one of the highest winning percentage in the state during coaches tenure. His teams have qualified for the state finals tournament, won numerous league championships, and has produced All-Americans, Players-of-the-Years, and All-Conference performers.

Before to coming to Bakersfield College, Coach Ferreira served as the Head Volleyball Coach for the University of Oregon Ducks, the University of Idaho, and CSU Bakersfield, and prior to that he was the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Stanford University and Fresno State. Coach Ferreira has been a guest speaker at the AVCA National coaching convention, recruited nationally and internationally, and offers a wealth of knowledge and experience.

While serving as the Head Coach at the University of Oregon, two professional experiences altered the direction of Coach Ferreira’s career. First he was professionally coached by a former NBA Head Coach turned coaching consultant, which transformed his coaching philosophy and methods. Second he worked with a cognitive psychologist who introduced him to the neuroscience of the mind, and how to acquire the necessary skills to perform consistently.

For the past 20+ yrs, Coach Ferreira has taken a deep dive and studied the mental skills of elite world-class performers, and used his knowledge and experience to develop a successful performance training program, specifically designed to organize and train the inner game.
